About the Artist

Born in Africa where she spent the first years of her life, it was during her move to Portugal that Paula found a new fertile ground for her artistic expression.

The transition to a more closed and conservative society (compared to the African society where she was born) was a challenge that she faced with courage and creativity. Inspired by the fusion of cultures that she experienced, her art became a reflection of these contrasts, an exploration of the limits between the conventional and the provocative, in a dance that challenges the status quo, and that aims to free the conformity of minds.

The best memories of her childhood include the time she spent watching her father paint, while he explained and taught her about the importance of light and shadow in paintings. He was the one who taught her the importance of observing and feeling creative expression from an early age.

Her interest in human stories and the unseen, leads her to explore the deepest corners of the human soul, translating these experiences into shapes and colors that defy the imagination.

Her passage through the first year of painting and drawing course at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon solidified the technique, subsequently developing her unique style, through his training in Interior Design where she reaffirmed the construction of her spatial reasoning regarding the use of spaces, and in an incessant search motivated as an artist by the wonder of discovering each person's unique world and their different forms of expression, she finds an interest in the study of Astrology, as a seeker of understanding each person's unique world.

She particularly enjoys working with vibrant colors that coexist with the unexpected appearance of fluorescent tones, acrylic, pastel, graphite or oil pastel that dance over textures on the canvas, revealing layers of meaning and immersing us in a world where each painting is a unique and engaging expression.
